The same mindset that generates a brilliant idea is not necessarily the same mindset that is able to successfully implement the idea. Those who succeed in building something often find themselves in a position in which they are no longer running the company they built.
But why does this happen?
It's because in order to successfully grow the company, the person with the entrepreneurial mindset must eventually bring in someone with a more orderly and industrious mindset to actually see the idea through to fruition.

The world is changing very quickly, and it will continue to do so at an even faster rate. How do you embrace the lunacy of the people who will help your company come up with the ideas that will shape the future while simultaneously embracing the people who will implement these same ideas?
The correlation between creativity and managerial performance is zero. Your most productive and creative people are quirky, and though you may fear that these types will damage your company culture, your company absolutely needs their ideas if it is going to survive into the future.
What do we mean by "Lunacy is a system?" Let's first start with what lunacy is not.
Lunacy is not an idea, it is not a vision, and it is not a destination. Most ideas are terrible, and even the best ideas start out terrible.
Lunacy is not a vision, most people back-fit their vision to what has already transpired. Go back to 2005 and listen to Mark Zuckerberg talk about his vision for Facebook and you will hear a very different vision than what he claims his vision for Facebook is today.
Lunacy is not a destination, it is a journey. People (usually teams of people) have to grind away at ideas, often for years; and still, most of them amount to nothing.
Lunacy has to be a system. The person who has the idea is usually different from the person who works on the idea, and both are usually different from the person who champions the idea.
Your immune system will fight anything that looks foreign. And so will your culture. To overcome this, you have to be a transplant surgeon.
Do you want the quirky people mentioned above in your company? Probably not. But, do you need to find a way to harness the genius of these people when the world changes? Absolutely.
Lunacy is about creating a system for making room for someone or something that does not make sense.
